Tiny Forest Farm

Tiny orchard and medicinal herbs in an edible forest garden.

Our Story

Nestled on a half-acre of forest and sunshine in suburban Minnesota, Tiny Forest Farm is a living example of what happens when nature is given room to collaborate with us.

Tiny Forest Farm is a family-run herb farm and tiny orchard. We’re growing herbal medicinals, fruits and nuts and embracing ways to stay grounded and grow something good together. What started as a personal experiment in regenerative gardening has become a working food forest, a testing ground for urban and suburban sustainability, and a hopeful answer to what’s possible in small spaces. Here, we grow more than food. We grow models, relationships, soil, and ideas. These little things we grow are experiments. A million little edible lessons. We've planted over 200 varieties of annual fruits, vegetables, and herbs alongside perennial flowers, fruit trees and shrubs. Each year our harvest tells a story. Little pluck-able chapters in a landscape that would otherwise blend together season after season. We remember by the pickings.

Hi, I’m Heather

Hi there! I’m Heather, tiny farmer. I’m a garden designer, strategist, storyteller — and someone who believes in the quiet revolution of backyard biodiversity.

With a background in communication, design, systems thinking, and permaculture, I created Tiny Forest Farm to bridge worlds: between traditional garden wisdom and ecological design, between storytelling and soil.

I work with families, homeowners, and curious growers to create abundant, low-maintenance ecosystems that feed people, support pollinators, and bring joy year-round.

Whether we’re designing your first edible hedge or transforming your yard into a layered permaculture system, I bring a whole-systems lens, rooted in care, creativity, and connection.
